Therapy Consultation Session

For many, putting their feelings into words can be tough. The whole idea of talking about what we might consider "bumps in the road" or personal setbacks can be daunting (or just give you the pure fear!).

When those emotions, behaviours, or physical symptoms are unsettling or start weighing on your mind, it's not always easy or clear where to turn. That's where our informal consultation session with a professional, qualified counsellor can be your first step. You get to have your say and share your thoughts, all in a safe and judgment-free space. There's no commitment to starting therapy.

We'll focus on what's most meaningful and beneficial for you to share. I'm here to guide you through a supportive conversation.

We'll discuss how you're doing, what led you to seek counselling, what you hope to get out of therapy, support you currently have in your life and whether you've had any previous counselling experiences.

This is your space, and you have the freedom to elaborate on anything you've mentioned already or bring up any questions you may have about the counselling process. Remember, there's no obligation to discuss specific topics, and you're in control of what you choose to share, including the level of detail that feels right for you.

Ongoing Counselling and Psychotherapy.

One-to-one counselling, in a safe, confidential space, aims to support you in identifying the source(s) of your pain, explore patterns in your thoughts and behaviours, and empower you to create positive changes, which may involve gently challenging any limiting beliefs/internal messages about yourself, others or the world.

We can't always provide easy answers, magically solve your problems or dictate to you what life choices to make. We support you in your self-discovery, empowerment and growth.

Together, we'll put in the work to lead towards a brighter, more fulfilling future. Learn more about the process below

What do you say after you say hello?

“People are always speculating – why am I as I am? To understand that of any person, his whole life, from birth, must be reviewed.
All of our experiences fuse into our personality. Everything that ever happened to us is an ingredient.”

The Therapy Process

So you've taken that first step and you're about to start counselling, now what?

To begin the therapeutic journey, In the first session or two, we start in the present, the here and now, it's your time to tell your story, allowing me to get to know you. A good foundation of trust and understanding is important. You should feel that you can express your thoughts, emotions, and experiences without fear of judgment. We talk through the challenges you're currently facing and explore how these experiences are affecting you, and your relationships.

To truly understand the path that brought you here and when you're comfortable to do so, we delve into your past we explore together, your world of family, childhood, significant relationships, and pivotal life events. We uncover the patterns and themes that have influenced your life, often stemming from your early experiences and relationships.

If it's something specific you're faced with like the storms of stress, depression, relational difficulties, whatever life is raining down on you. Or, you're not sure what the problem is, you just have a feeling that life isn't feeling 'right', you're feeling stuck, scunnert and don't understand why. We explore this together to find a way forward. We work towards you developing greater self-awareness and access to your 'authentic' feelings, so you can express yourself authentically and forge deeper, more genuine connections with others, building resilience and confidence.

Optimise Your Therapy.

You're investing in yourself, you've taken that step forward. There are a few essential ingredients that will help you optimise your therapy journey;

The therapy process begins with your willingness to seek it and attend the sessions. Recognising that something might need to change and it's perfectly okay to let someone else support you to do that. Be motivated and committed to fully engage. It's the wind in your sails, driving you forward, especially when you start to get to the edges of your comfort zone as you grapple with potentially strong feelings, like anxiety or shame. It can give you the fear, and that's okay, you're within the safe boundaries of our therapeutic alliance and that's where we come to 'belief'. Belief in the process and, absolutely, belief in yourself. Let's get started.
